Let’s Talk Macros!
What is a macro?
Macro is short for macronutrients. Macronutrients are protein, carbohydrates, and fats. They are the three categories of nutrients you eat the most and provide you with most of your energy.
Why count macros?
When you count macronutrients, you are counting the grams of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats that you are consuming. Counting macros helps you understand where your calories are coming from and how they can affect your body. It also helps you understand that not all calories are created equal. For example: 1 gram of protein = 4 calories vs. 1 gram of fat = 9 calories.
How to be successful when counting macros.
Macros are not a one-size-fits-all plan. It is important to hire a coach who is educated in how to calculate macros for you. Everyone’s body is different and the amount of each macronutrient needed varies for each person. In my fitness and nutrition programs, I offer a macro based nutrition guide that is specific to you and your body. Counting macronutrients allows you to have a more balanced approach to your diet.
Macro counting sets you up for long term success and results that are sustainable. This approach to nutrition provides you with the flexibility and freedom to enjoy the foods you love with the people you love. You will never miss a moment with your friends and family. I believe in eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, with plenty of whole foods, but I also believe you should be able to eat the foods you love while still seeing incredible results! Never let your fitness journey be an excuse not to live life.
